Steve Georgallis will return to the Penrith Panthers next season with confirmation that he will coach the club’s NSW Cup team.
47-year-old Georgallis briefly coached Penrith’s NRL team in 2011 following the sacking of Matt Elliott. He was overlooked for the head coaching job in favour of Ivan Cleary.
Georgallis left to join the Wests Tigers but will now return to the Panthers, where he spent six years working in different roles on the coaching staff between 2005 and 2011.
“Steve has had a long association with the Panthers and is highly regarded by everyone at the club,” Panthers Executive General Manager Phil Gould AM said.
“As I said at the time when he left us at the end of 2011, we are most appreciative of the generous service he has given the club.
“We are delighted he is now returning to play his part in the club’s historic 50th season.”
Georgallis replaces Garth Brennan, who has been promoted to be Anthony Griffin’s assistant with the NRL side next season.
