Love and literature come together in the world premiere of the theatre production ‘All My Love’ at The Joan this July.
‘All My Love’ is a theatre production which tells the story of the love affair between author and activist Mary Gilmore and writer and poet Henry Lawson at the turn of the 20th century.
Mary Gilmore met the young Henry Lawson and quickly struck up a friendship. But as their feelings grew, Mary found herself caught between Henry and his mother, well known writer and suffragette Louisa Lawson.
Writer Anne Brooksbank discovered the story of their relationship after researching Gilmore’s memoirs.
The production has been written using excerpts from the couple’s letters to each other and tells the story of their intense love affair.
This is an incredible, little known story from Australia’s past and one that will leave you amazed.
If you love a good love story then this is one show you won’t want to miss.
‘All My Love’ will be on at The Joan on Friday, July 17 at 8pm, Saturday, July 18 at 2pm and 8pm and Tuesday, July 21 at 11am (schools and matinee club). The show will run for approximately 120 minutes plus interval. Tickets are $40-$45. For more information or to purchase tickets visit http://www.thejoan.com.au or call 4723 7600.
