Man refused bail after being charged with raft of offences

An associate of the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang has been charged with offences relating to child grooming and the transmission of indecent material to a minor.

As part of ongoing inquiries into the activities of the Rebels OMCG in Sydney’s west, investigators from the Gangs Squad’s Strike Force Raptor recently executed two search warrants at a property on Pyramid Street, Emu Plains.

On Thursday, May 21, officers seized a firearm, ammunition, MDMA, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and electronic devices, including a smart-phone, from the property.

A 28-year-old Emu Plains man was arrested and taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with Possess unregistered firearm, Possess firearm – unauthorised, Not keep firearm safely, Possess ammunition, Possess prohibited drug and Possess prohibited weapon. The man was given conditional bail to appear at Penrith Court on June 18.

Officers will allege that upon examining the contents of the smart-phone, they uncovered evidence of a man engaging in sexually explicit correspondence with a 14-year-old girl, as well as evidence of the man transmitting indecent images of himself to the teen.

Yesterday afternoon (Wednesda, June 3), police from Strike Force Raptor executed a second search warrant at the Pyramid Street property, before again arresting the 28-year-old man and taking him to Springwood Police Station, where he was charged with:

– Use a carriage service to groom a person under 16 years of age;

– Use a carriage service to transmit indecent communication to a person under 16 years of age;

– Use a carriage service to procure a person under 16 years of age; and,

– Possess prohibited drug.

The man, who is an associate of the Rebels, was bail refused and was scheduled to appear in Penrith Local Court today.
