Police officer suffers broken tooth after arrest turns violent

A woman has been charged with assaulting police after allegedly elbowing an officer in the face, breaking her tooth, during an arrest at St Marys overnight.

About 9pm on Monday, police attended a house on Kurrajong Avenue to arrest a man and a woman who had returned to a location they had been evicted from on Thursday, April 9.

They had been issued with a court attendance notice at the premises, on Sunday, April 12, for the offence of enter enclosed lands.

The pair allegedly resisted arrest with the 35-year-old woman kicking a female senior constable in the shin before elbowing her in the mouth, breaking one of her front teeth.

The 35-year-old woman was charged with enter enclosed lands, resist arrest and assault police occasioning actual bodily harm.

The 18-year-old man was charged with enter enclosed lands and resist arrest.

They were both refused bail to appear before Penrith Local Court today.

The woman police officer was treated at Nepean Hospital and will require dental treatment.
