Serious crash at Castlereagh

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a head-on crash in Castlereagh this afternoon.

About midday today, emergency services responded to reports that a heavy vehicle and a Nissan Pathfinder crashed on Castlereagh Road.

The driver of the heavy vehicle, a 30-year-old man, was treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics for minor injuries.

The driver of the Pathfinder, a 36-year-old woman, was trapped for a short time before being freed.

She and her passenger, a toddler, were treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics before being taken to Nepean Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Castlereagh Road is currently closed in both directions between Cranebrook and Andrews roads while investigations take place.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
