A 75-year-old South Penrith woman has been charged as part of an investigation into a prison drug supply.

Strike Force Wessex was established by State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad in April 2023 to investigate alleged criminal groups involved in drug supply using drug run or ‘dial-a-dealer’ phones across Sydney.

During the investigation, detectives identified a syndicate operating within a correctional centre.

Two men were arrested earlier this year and remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, about 8.30am yesterday, strike force detectives attended an address in South Penrith where they arrested a 75-year-old woman.

The woman was taken to St Marys Police Station, where she was charged with ‘supply prohibited drug < small quantity’ and granted conditional bail to appear in Penrith Local Court on Tuesday, September 24.

In addition, police made two more arrests as part of their investigation in Orange this morning.

The 56-year-old man and 50-year-old man were taken to Orange Police Station, where they were each charged with ‘supply prohibited drug < small quantity’ and bail refused to appear in Orange Local Court today.

Police will allege the group were involved in the supply of buprenorphine within a prison.
