Three people will face court over alleged driving and illicit drug offences following a vehicle stop in Kingswood, which resulted in police locating a loaded firearm.
About 11.20pm last Friday night (January 2), officers attached to St Mary’s Local Area Command attempted to stop a Holden Commodore after it was seen to allegedly disobey a stop sign on Stafford Street.
“The vehicle allegedly failed to stop and a short pursuit ensued, before the Commodore pulled into a driveway of a unit complex on the same street,” a police spokesperson said.
“The driver – a 33-year-old man – attempted to flee the scene; however police arrested him nearby.
“Further checks revealed he is currently disqualified from driving until 2047.”
Police searched the two remaining passengers in the vehicle – a 39-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man – and the vehicle; where they allegedly located amphetamine and a sawn-off, fully-loaded firearm.
The trio were taken to Merrylands Police Station, where the 33-year-old was charged with drive whilst disqualified and goods in custody. He was granted conditional bail, to appear at Penrith Local Court on January 12.
The 47-year-old man was charged with an outstanding warrant. He was granted conditional bail, to appear at Penrith Local Court on January 13.
The 39-year-old woman was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for possess prohibited drug and will appear at Penrith Local Court on January 29.
