Wingboy to open Penrith restaurant this August

Wingboy is coming to Penrith.

Popular restaurant Wingboy – which lays claim to serving up the best chicken wings in Sydney – is opening a Penrith location.

Wingboy already has locations in Parramatta, Newtown, Darling Square and Randwick. Its Penrith spot will open in August.

It is taking over the famous church building on Henry Street, famously occupied by King Henry’s Court for years and most recently Henry’s Bar and Grill.

The Wingboy menu boasts chicken wings, corn ribs, loaded fries and the likes – as well as an extensive cocktail offering.

Confirmation of its Penrith location follows a Penrith City Council decision recently to allow Sunday trading at the site.

“The premises is housed in an original church building, a notable part of Penrith’s local heritage and tourism initiatives,” the Statement of Environmental Effects (SEE) attached to a recent Development Application stated.

The existing consent only permitted trading from Monday to Saturday from 7am until Midnight.

The modification sought approval to extend trading hours to include Sundays from 10am until 10pm.

“No changes to the building’s structure, use, or capacity are proposed. The coffee shop has operated here for over 26 years, integrating commercial use with heritage conservation and community tourism,” the SEE said.

The DA highlighted that the continued use of the heritage building will remain sustainable with the modification to trading hours.

“This application to allow Sunday trading (10.00am to 10.00pm) at the long-established coffee shop located within the original church building at 74 Henry Street presents a minor and meaningful modification,” the SEE said.
