Penrith rallies behind local seriously injured in workplace fall

An Emu Plains man has suffered catastrophic injuries in a workplace incident.

Jarrod Canning fell from a roof on Monday at a job site in Singleton, and was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital.

He underwent a complex six-hour surgery, and faces a long recovery.

He has lost the use of both his legs as a result of the accident.

“This life-altering injury has dramatically affected his mobility and independence, yet is determined to still provide for his young family,” a GoFundMe page set up to support the family says.

“The road ahead will be filled with challenges — will involve rehabilitation and getting his independence back.”

The local community is rallying behind the Canning family. His father Kevin is well known in the Penrith business community.

Jarrod has a partner Gemma and a 10-month-old baby boy Arti.

A GoFundMe has been set up to support the family with ongoing medical expenses, financial relief, home and vehicle modifications and support for Jarrod’s family during what will be a life-altering transition.

Almost $50,000 has already been raised.
