A man has been assaulted with a hammer during a violent home invasion overnight.
Three men – who remain on the run – allegedly entered a home on Boree Place at Werrington Downs just after 1.20am today.
They were armed with a machete and a hammer. They assaulted a 55-year-old man with the hammer and left the scene in a large SUV.
The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital for further treatment.
A crime scene was established and investigations commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
