Work at Penrith CBD intersection to cause delays in coming weeks

There will be changed overnight traffic conditions in the Penrith CBD from this Wednesday as work is undertaken on a major intersection.

Pedestrian safety improvement will occur at the intersection of Henry Street and Station Street, Penrith.

The work involves installing new arrow lanterns at the intersection to allow pedestrians to more safely cross the road while holding motorists on red arrows.

Workers will be on site for up to 13 night shifts, working between Wednesday, May 14 and Friday, August 8.

“We will work between Sunday to Thursday between the hours of 8pm and 5am, the next day. We will not work on Friday nights, Saturdays or on the Monday June 9 public holiday,” a Transport for NSW spokesperson said.

“There will be temporary traffic changes to make sure the work zone is safe. Lane closures and a 40km/h speed limit will be in place for the safety of our workers and motorists.

“Temporary traffic lights will also be used, at times, while we install the new arrows.”

Traffic controllers will be on site to assist motorists and pedestrians.
