This Saturday, May 17 sees the eagerly awaited return of WestCare’s community Walk and Appeal, ‘Steps of Hope’.
After a short break this will be the 12th holding of the annual event and this year every dollar raised will directly support two of the local charity’s most vital activities: mental health and school welfare support.
“We think Steps Of Hope is a ‘win-win’ for the community, providing an accessible opportunity for people of all ages to participate in a meaningful fundraiser that supports activities with genuine outcomes, literally saving people’s lives and strengthening families in Penrith,” said WestCare Director, Andrew Paech.
The Walk component involves walking the ‘Bridge to Bridge’ circuit of the Nepean River Walk, with registration capped at $35 for adults and $20 for children aged five to 15 years that generously includes a free T-shirt, sausage sizzle and bottled water.
And with financial donations to the appeal being tax-deductible, the Steps of Hope appeal is a great way for people to directly inject their support for the Penrith Men’s Walk and Talk, Penrith Women’s Walk and Talk and school breakfast and family welfare support.
Participants can start and finish the walk any time between the hours of 7.30am and 12.30pm on Saturday from the basecamp along the path near the mulberry trees just off the Jamison Road bend at Tench Reserve.
