Trackwork set to derail fans heading to Battle of the West

Trains won’t be running on the crucial T1 Western Line to ferry commuters to Sunday afternoon’s Battle of the West at CommBank Stadium.

The Panthers versus Eels showdown has been scheduled for Sunday at 4.05pm.

But Sydney Trains is advising that buses will replace trains between Emu Plains and Blacktown in both directions all day on Sunday.

The trackwork will impact the Western Line from 2am on Saturday until 2am on Monday.

It means fans heading to the game on Sunday will need to catch a bus from their local station in Penrith to Blacktown, and then catch a train to Parramatta.

There will be an express bus service running between Penrith and Blacktown, and all stations services also running from Penrith and St Marys.

Fans are urged to allow plenty of extra travel time.

Sunday afternoon’s game would have attracted a sell-out crowd had it been at Penrith Stadium, but the Panthers are currently playing home games at CommBank Stadium while their new stadium is developed.
