Endeavour Foundation delivers for schools

Three schools in Sydney’s north-west have received new virtual reality devices and software worth $25,000, donated by Australian leading disability service provider, Endeavour Foundation.

Students with disability at The Ponds School, Crestwood State High School and Kellyville State High School will benefit from the generous tech grant gifted to Endeavour Foundation, from insurance experts, Ansvar.

Endeavour Foundation are unmatched in the inclusive VR tech space, with over 20 learning simulations aimed at providing a safe, virtual way for users to develop work-related skillsets and life-skills, before trying the activity in the real world.

“These students now have access to a variety of simulations, including road safety programs, warehouse safety including awareness around forklifts, as well as learning to drive,” said Endeavour Foundation’s Service Design Manager, Chris Beaumont.

“Our organisation was established nearly 75 years ago to advocate for the rights of people with disability. Whether the support is at home to aid everyday life, at work or in the community, we’re passionate about helping to create possibilities by offering opportunities – and our VR suite is just one way.”

The new VR simulations will not only help students learn new skills while at school, but enables a smoother transition into life after school – whether that’s in the community on their own, or as they start work.

Head of Technology at The Ponds School, Alex Nesbitt, confirms, “Virtual Reality, offers a noticeable increase in student engagement, which is the ideal means to foster positive learning environments and encourage measurable growth for our diverse learners.”

Year 12 student, Toni, from The Ponds School, adds, “Virtual Reality takes me far away from the classroom, to explore so many different places and experiences. It makes me feel joyful, engaged and free.”

Ansvar Insurance CEO, Warren Hutchenson confirms, “Ansvar is extremely proud to have supported Endeavour Foundation with a $25,000 grant.

“For over 30 years, Ansvar’s Community Education Program has provided a range of grants to help fund over 300 charities to help support young Australians and their progressive pathways.”

Endeavour Foundation says, the relationship they hold with each school, is unique. Students already visit nearby Castle Hill Learning and Lifestyle Hub and the Business Solutions work site, as well as the Penrith Learning and Lifestyle centre, when considering opportunities after finishing school.
