Ahead of their upcoming Muscle Car Show next Sunday at Penrith Paceway, the HSV Owners Club NSW are giving back to the local community courtesy of a sizeable donation to Nepean Hospital’s Children’s Ward.
On Tuesday morning, members of the car club drove their pride and joys to the hospital, to hand deliver a cheque to the tune of $1000.
According to Kerry Tosswill, Nepean Hospital’s Divisional Manager Women & Children’s Health, the funds will go towards making kids’ stays that little bit brighter.
“A donation like this one has a huge impact because obviously the health dollar is very tight at the moment and people across the world are doing it tough with their finances, so to get donations it means we can buy that little bit extra,” she told the Weekender.
“Having a child in hospital is not a pleasant experience for anyone, particularly the children themselves as it’s quite scary, so a donation like this can help get toys and equipment to make their stays easier or shorter.”
The highly sought after cars, displayed earlier this week at the hospital grounds, had many visitors and staff turning their heads – some even stopped to take photos.
Tosswill said receiving donations from organisations, like the HSV Owners Club NSW, can make all the difference.
“Having the cars here today creates buzz and excitement, and just having local organisations support the community is really nice as well,” she said.
The HSV Owners Club NSW is a not-for-profit organisation for motoring enthusiasts who have purchased Holden HDT and HSV models.
These vehicles are amongst the world’s fastest sedans, offering optimum performance, handling and comfort at half the cost of their European equivalents whilst maintaining their identity as Australian cars built for Australian conditions.
It’s for this reason these vehicles remain so popular and worth a pretty penny if they ever go on the market.
Next Sunday, May 25 from 9am to 3.30pm, locals will have the chance to see these rare cars in the flesh when they pull up at the Penrith Paceway car park.
It will be the second straight year the free Muscle Car Show will be held at the venue following on from its successful turnout in 2024.
“Club Paceway share our members’ love for these high-performance vehicles and provide a great fit for our Muscle Car Show,” HSV Owners Club NSW President, Joe Garzaniti said.
“This year we will have over 70 very impressive and original and modified cars on display. These cars are their owner’s pride and joy, and the condition and show presentation of these vehicles is second to none.”
Garzaniti, a 29-year member of the club, said his fellow members love interacting with the community and other car enthusiasts, who share their passion for these high-performance vehicles.
“We would love the general public to come along and enjoy a great day out for the entire family, with raffles, prizes, food, beverages and much more on offer,” he said.
