Changed traffic conditions ahead for Colyton

There will be temporary changed traffic conditions on sections of the Great Western Highway between Hewitt Street and Bennett Road at Colyton next month.

Transport for NSW says the changes are necessary for road maintenance work which will improve safety for road users by creating a smoother road surface.

The work will take place over up to four-night shifts between Thursday, May 1 and Wednesday, May 14, weather permitting.

“Our working hours will be from 7pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday. No work will occur on Friday or Saturday nights,” a spokesperson said.

“There will be some temporary traffic changes while our work takes place including road closures, detours, lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h.”

The following closures and detours will be in place:

• Melbourne Street will be closed between Great Western Highway and Adelaide Street during our night work hours and access will only be allowed for local residents

• Road users wishing to access Great Western Highway from Adelaide Street, Canberra Street or Brisbane Street will need to use the detours via Sydney Street, Durham Street, Mount Druitt Road (eastbound only), Nelson Street or Carlisle Avenue.

There will also be no right turn permitted for traffic wishing to travel westbound on Great Western Highway from Woodland Avenue, Simpson Hill Road and Mount Druitt Road. The Great Western Highway will remain open at all times.

Pedestrian access between Melbourne Street and Great Western Highway will not be affected. Residents and businesses will still have access to their properties.
