Man charged after St Marys pursuit

A man will face court after he was caught allegedly driving an unregistered vehicle following a pursuit.

About 11.40pm yesterday (Thursday, March 13, 2025), officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command were patrolling Mulgoa Road, Penrith, when they attempted to stop a silver hatchback.

Initial checks revealed the vehicle’s registration had been cancelled.

When it allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit was terminated at the intersection of the Great Western Highway and Glossip Street, after the pursuit went through Penrith, Jamisontown, Kingswood, Werrington, and St Marys.

Following inquiries, about 12.40am today (Friday, March 14), the vehicle was located on Glossop Street, North St Marys, where police arrested the driver – a 26-year-old man.

He was taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, custody of knife in public place – subsequent offence, and use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road.

He was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today.
