Signal issues at Penrith has thrown the peak hour commute into chaos this morning.
There are extensive delays on the Western Line, with some trains cancelled and others running extremely late.
Crews are currently at Penrith working to rectify the signal issues and get services back to normal.
Some passengers have been waiting on local platforms for almost an hour for a train.
Commuters have been expressing their frustration on social media.
“Any chance of getting a refund on my trip for tapping on? I am stuck at Penrith station,” Daniel Sayers said in a message to NSW Premier Chris Minns.
“With trains delayed and now cancelled my day is done. You wonder why people are losing faith in the network clogging up all major roads pointing to the city.”
Sydney Trains is advising commuters to allow plenty of extra travel time.
