A five-year-old girl is in a serious condition after being hit by a car at Kingswood this afternoon.
The incident happened on the Great Western Highway outside the busy Kingswood shops.
The five-year-old, who unconfirmed reports suggest was chasing a dog at the time, was hit by a Nissan utility.
She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a serious condition.
The driver of the utility – a 33-year-old man – was uninjured and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
There are reports that another child was also taken to hospital, potentially also hit by a vehicle, but this has not been confirmed by police.
Police have commenced an investigation into the incident.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000.
