Major outage leaves thousands without Internet

Leading Internet Service Provider TPG is still scrambling to fix a major outage that has left thousands of customers without access to the web.

The outage is impacting direct TPG customers as well as fixed broadband customers of Vodafone, iiNet, Internode and Kogan.

A power outage at a major Sydney data centre is being blamed. It is unknown exactly how many customers are impacted.

“Our technical teams are working to resolve an issue causing disruption to fixed broadband services for our customers,” TPG said in a Facebook post.

“We will keep customers up to date on our progress towards restoring services and apologise for the inconvenience.”

But that promise of keeping customers up-to-date has been replaced by radio silence – with no update since that post more than three hours ago.

There has been progressive reports online of users being restored, but many are still complaining they have no access.

TPG’s own website is also down.
