Hundreds of people gathered at Nepean Village this morning to see if they could get some extra help this Christmas.

Adrian Portelli, a billionaire property investor, has been doing a series of grocery giveaways across Australia but has today set his sights on Penrith.

Portelli plans to give away a total of $150,000 across two supermarkets today, including the Coles in Nepean Village, the other at Fairfield West.

Laura Mand and her daughter Simone Young have been lining up all morning and managed to get the best spot in line, first.

“We are lining up today because Adrian is giving out vouchers,” Mand said.

“I’ve here since 5.30am. I was first in line.

“I don’t care what I get. Anything is better than what I have in my pocket right now.

“I’m going to spend it on my seven grandchildren.”

Young said the extra money is exactly what her family needs to get through the festive period.

“I’m so excited I can’t wait to meet him. He is such a great bloke. It would be an amazing help for my family with two kids,” Young said.

“My son’s just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, so it’s been a little bit hard. I haven’t got started on Christmas yet because I’ve been trying to learn everything about his diabetes, so this gift card is going to be a really big help.”

“I’m going to spend the gift card on my children.”

The giveaway kicked off at 9.30am with the massive line of hopefuls moving slowly closer to a gift card.
