The State Government will implement a “patient flow concierge officer” at Nepean Hospital.
The move is an effort to improve patient flow and support discharge planning by identifying patients that are suitable to be discharged home with the appropriate supports in place.
The government is introducing 86 of the officers across the state.
“We know that wait times in hospitals around NSW were at an all-time high before we came into government,” Penrith State MP Karen McKeown said.
“This Patient flow concierge will not only help relieve wait times and help patients get home sooner, but it will help take some of the pressure of our Emergency Department staff allowing them to see more patients.”
The initiative forms part of the State Government’s wider ED relief package.
