Penrith’s Premiership hopes have received a major boost with the club confirming Nathan Cleary will be available for the Finals.

Cleary left the field late in the second half of Penrith’s 24-22 loss to Melbourne last night.

“Scans today confirmed that Nathan experienced a recurrence of the shoulder instability he had earlier in the year,” the Panthers said in a statement today.

“The scans indicate that he has avoided immediate surgery. The positive outcome is that the club plans to have Nathan available for the NRL Finals.”

Penrith will aim to get through the final three regular season games without Cleary, starting with next Saturday’s match against Canberra.

The mission in the nation’s capital was made even more difficult earlier today when Mitch Kenny was hit with a high tackle charge. An early guilty plea will see him miss next weekend’s match.
