A man has been arrested after returning a positive breath test in the middle of the afternoon.
The incident happened at about 3.20pm on Wednesday, May 8.
Police were notified that a 52-year-old Colyton man had attempted to pick up his child from a childcare centre. Staff refused to release the child to him as they believed the man was intoxicated.
Police were contacted and located the man driving his vehicle on Roper Road, Colyton.
Police had a conversation with the man and then he was breath tested. The man failed to supply a sufficient amount of breath for analysis.
The man was arrested and taken to Penrith Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis that returned a positive reading of 0.233.
The man’s licence was suspended, and he was formally charged. He will appear in Penrith Local Court on Thursday, June 13.
