Penrith’s NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg teams have both qualified for the Finals and will be in action this weekend.
The NSW Cup team finished in second spot, just a single competition point behind Minor Premiers Newtown.
They’ll take on the North Sydney Bears at St Marys Leagues Stadium at 3.10pm on Saturday, September 3.
Channel Nine has confirmed it will be showing the match on its main channel live.
With NSW Cup moving to a top five, Newtown now earn the first week of the finals off and will progress straight through to the Grand Final if they win the Major Semi-final in Week Two.
Penrith’s Jersey Flegg team finished the season in third spot, equal on 30 points with two other teams but boasting the superior for-and-against.
The Panthers will take on the Knights at 12.45pm at St Marys Leagues Stadium on Saturday, September 3 as the curtain raiser to the NSW Cup match. The winner will face the Sydney Roosters in the Major Semi-final in Week Two while the loser will progress to the Minor Semi-final.
There’s no TV coverage of the Flegg match but it will be streamed on the NSWRL website.
Both of Penrith’s sides are set to be significantly weakened with NRL coach Ivan Cleary likely to rest up to a dozen of his first grade players from this Saturday night’s clash with North Queensland.
