There’s now 30 positive Coronavirus cases at Newmarch House nursing home at Caddens, with confirmed cases doubling in a 24 hour period.

NSW Health this morning reported 29 new cases at the nursing home, but it’s understood there’s at least one additional case since official reporting closed at 8pm last night.

20 residents and 10 staff members have tested positive.

One of the infected residents is understood to be 101-years-old.

At this stage, it is understood most of the infected patients are only displaying minor symptoms.

In a statement, Newmarch House owners Anglicare said as a precaution, residents who initially tested negative are being re-tested again.

“We have contacted all relatives of our residents infected. Our staff that have tested positive are self-isolating at home on full pay,” the statement said.

“Anglicare has deployed a specially trained team of staff assigned to care for the residents who have tested positive.

“This team is wearing full personal protective equipment (PPE), follow strict infection control procedures and care solely for these residents.

“We continue to closely monitor all our residents and staff at Newmarch. We are grateful to the support provided to us by NSW Health and Australian Health Departments.”
