The race for Penrith’s fullback jersey has been thrown wide open with confirmation that Dylan Edwards has suffered a serious ankle injury.
The Panthers confirmed today that Edwards sustained a syndesmosis tear in his right ankle at training on Tuesday after getting his leg caught in an awkward position.
The 24-year-old will undergo surgery on Thursday and be sidelined for up to two months.
Caleb Aekins is the most likely replacement for Edwards for Penrith’s opening round clash with the Roosters next month.
