Friday Five: Date night restaurants

A romantic night out has to include a great meal, and there’s plenty of awesome restaurants for date nights in Penrith.

Here’s our top five…

5. Trevi (Woodriff St, Penrith)

This award-winning Italian restaurant is terrific for a date night – arrive early and enjoy a cocktail in the bar before heading to your table.

The pasta here is delicious. Try the duck ravioli or the chorizo spaghetti. Away from pasta there’s a terrific line-up of mains, including veal marsala and the famous Trevi macadamia chicken.

For those looking for something lighter there’s some terrific summer salads available with plenty of optional extras to add.

4. Lakeside Restaurant (Penrith Lakes)

Often forgotten about because it sits outside of the CBD and typical restaurant areas, Lakeside provides a beautiful setting for a romantic dinner without the kids.

Open Thursday, Friday and Saturday for dinner – and at other times for breakfast, brunch and lunch – Lakeside has a sensational range of mains, pastas and desserts to try.

Vince and his team will look after you and ensure your date night is a success.

3. Osso (Panthers)

If you know date night is going to kick on to a few drinks afterwards, Panthers is the place to go – especially with a quality restaurant like Osso in the building.

Delicious steaks, even more delicious ribs… all in a great setting.

Kick-off with some small plates and then dive into the steaks – we recommend the Wagyu Top Sirloin.

2. Avli (Cranebrook)

A little bit of Greece awaits just a couple of kilometres outside of Penrith.

Avli is a hidden gem, sitting in an historic church that has been refurbished to house the amazing restaurant.

If you’ve never been before, jump into one of the set menus – you can’t go wrong. With a great setting, and indoor and outdoor dining available, Avli should definitely be on your list.

1. The Union (High St, Penrith)

The Union has stood the test of time after opening in Penrith a few years ago, and continues to deliver outstanding tapas food and a tremendous atmosphere upstairs on High Street.

Plus with a small bar below, you can grab a drink before or after your date to make it a complete night out.

The Union has some amazing share dishes, but you can’t go pass the lamb cigars (hopefully they’re on the specials board!), the paella and the fried haloumi.
