Police search for man who drove car into Nepean River

Police say they have no idea if a man who drove his car into the Nepean River last night is still alive.

It is understood the man aged in his 60s drove down the boat ramp at Tench Reserve around 9.40pm on Friday.

Witnesses have told police they saw the man resurface from the water but lost sight of him as he was swimming towards the western bank of the river.

Police have located a white Toyota Camry at the bottom of the river and have confirmed the man’s body is not inside.

The massive search for the man continues.

Police are expected to pull the vehicle out of the river tomorrow.
