Penrith MP Stuart Ayres has retained his seat despite fears over what impact Jackie Kelly would have on the electorate.
At 9pm, around 25 per cent of the vote had been counted with Mr Ayres holding a considerable lead over Labor’s Emma Husar.
After preferences, Mr Ayres leads 57.8 per cent to 42.2 per cent.
Ms Kelly, who ran as an Independent, has had little impact on the seat. She has just 8.6 per cent of the primary vote.
