After selling out their concerts in 2011, the fabulous Johann Strauss Ensemble is set to wow audiences again with their beautiful classical music.

The Johann Strauss Ensemble, which is known as one of the most authentic-sounding performers of Strauss music in the world, will be performing in Penrith at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre on Wednesday, July 17.

Their stunning concert ‘Vienna on Fire’ is suitable for all ages and will have audiences amazed at the pure musical beauty, as the ensemble recreates the sounds of Vienna live on stage.

Following the overwhelming success of their sellout 2011 Australian tour, the Johann Strauss Ensemble will return down under to present a new concert that features the gorgeous waltzes and polkas of Austria’s most famous romantic composer, Johann Strauss and his sons Eduard and Josef.

With a prestigious history behind them, the Johann Strauss Ensemble was established in 1985 by performers from the well-known Bruckner Orchestra.

Based in Linz, this talented ensemble has crafted an international reputation for high-quality musicianship after their amazing tours across the United Kingdom, Europe, Russia, Asia and Australia.

Their trademark is informal energetic rhythms, which are set off by an anecdotal humour and physical presence that makes them distinctive compared to other staid, traditional orchestras.

The Johann Strauss Ensemble is made up of 22 world-class musicians, including conductor and soloist Russell McGregor, a talented and charming Australian violinist who moved to Vienna over two decades ago and is now known as one of the city’s most renowned musicians.

With the precise musicianship and lively stage presence of its performers, the Johann Strauss Ensemble creates a truly one-of-a-kind and memorable evening for audiences.

The ‘Vienna on Fire’ program includes some of Strauss’ most beloved works, such as ‘Beautiful Blue Danube’, ‘Weiner Blut’, ‘Bandit’s Galop’ and ‘Thunder and Lightning’.

It will also feature McGregor playing an anvil as percussion throughout the ‘Fire-Proof! Polka’ piece.

The Johann Strauss Ensemble will play ‘Vienna on Fire’ at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre on Wednesday, July 17 at 8pm.
