A disqualified driver has been arrested following a pursuit overnight.

About 11.30pm last night, police were patrolling in Forrester Road, St Marys, when they detected a white Holden Commodore allegedly driving over the speed limit.

Police activated their lights and sirens. However, the driver allegedly ignored police directions and failed to stop.

Officers initiated a pursuit, during which it is alleged the Commodore accelerated sharply and drove through a red light.

A short time later, the vehicle stopped and the two occupants fled the scene.

Police chased the driver as he jumped over a number of fences. He was found hiding under a car in Sandikan Crescent, Mount Druitt.

Officers arrested the 22-year-old man and took him to Mount Druitt Police Station.

Inquiries into the man’s driving history revealed he is disqualified from driving until November 2017 for previous traffic offences.

He was subsequently charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously (Skye’s Law) and drive while disqualified from holding a licence.

The man was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today.

Inquiries are continuing.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,
