Former State Penrith MP, Karyn Paluzzano, received some rare good news today after winning an appeal against home detention.
Ms Paluzzano was sentenced to 18 months detention with a non-parole period of 12 months last October, after she was found guilty of falsely signing off on parliamentary payments.
Ms Paluzzano appealed and was today successful, receiving a 14 month suspended sentence instead.
The former MP falsely claimed parliamentary sitting day relief payments between 2006 and 2007, and gave false and misleading evidence to a corruption inquiry.
She has no desire to return to politics and is believed to be pursuing her career as a teacher.
