A man has been arrested for an armed robbery after police recognised the man at a vehicle fire.
At 8.30pm on, a 30-year-old man from Kanimbla in NSW entered a fast food restaurant on the Great Western Highway, Emu Plains and allegedly threatened staff with a screw driver before demanding staff open the safe.
He obtained a sum of cash and ran from the store. Police attended the restaurant and viewed the CCTV footage.
The following day, police were called to a vehicle fire in Emu Plains.
They recognised the man from the CCTV footage and he was arrested.
The man was taken to Nepean Hospital before being returned to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with armed robbery with an offensive weapon.
He was bail refused to Penrith Local Court to face his charges today.
