Emergency services remain on the site of an incident in Jamisontown in which it is believed a crane has collapsed, causing an explosion.
Residents were startled by at least two loud bangs at around 11.30pm.
The incident has happened near the ABCOE Centre on Batt Street, though the building itself is not damaged.
The site of the incident is believed to be land in which a new AMF bowling centre is being built.
Nearby locals on the Western Weekender’s Facebook page said their windows rattled and houses shook when the explosions happened.
Some reported hearing the explosions as far away as St Marys and Cambridge Park.
There are no reports of injuries and a fire following the explosion has been completely extinguished.
