Detectives are questioning two men over an armed hold-up at a western Sydney post office.
Police from Penrith Local Area Command were patrolling Dunheved Road, Werrington Downs, just before 1am today when they spotted a Holden Commodore believed linked to yesterday’s armed raid on the Emerton post office.
They followed the vehicle along The Northern Road and Richmond Road to Bligh Park.
Police activated their patrol vehicle’s lights and sirens and signalled to the driver of the Holden to stop; however, it immediately accelerated away and a pursuit was initiated.
The chase eventually ended when the Holden crashed into a tree in Ninth Avenue, Llandilo.
The driver, a 21-year-old man, was arrested by police after attempting to run from the vehicle.
His passenger, a 19-year-old man, was also taken into custody at the scene.
A semi-automatic pistol was allegedly discovered during a search of the vehicle. It’s been seized as evidence.
Both men were taken to Penrith Police Station where they are assisting investigators with their inquiries.
Investigations into the armed robbery are ongoing.
