Over 100 high school students from seven local high schools and one country high school will feature in Flannofest 2012 – Q Theatre Company’s annual festival for young people.

Flannofest is a unique event that reflects the Q Theatre Company’s commitment to performing arts education for young people in our region.

The festival gives high school drama students the opportunity to experience a taste of the industry, working with professional actors, directors and technicians to create unique pieces of theatre.

Flannofest aims to give young people with an interest in theatre an insight into the production and performance values that go to putting on a successful production in the theatre industry.

Seven local schools have entered this year’s Flannofest, being St Clair High, Nepean Creative and Performing Arts High, Kingswood High, Cambridge Park High, Colyton High, Springwood High and Blue Mountains Grammar School.

In a first, local schools will this year be joined by a NSW country school, Condobolin High. The school teams have been working around the clock with their theatre mentors to create completely new and inspiring performances that will be performed for a panel of industry experts.

Hosting the event will be Q Youth Company, Q Theatre’s resident emerging artist ensemble. Five awards will be presented at the 2012 Flannofest including the Performance Skills Award, Stagecraft Award, Technical Award, and the overall Flannofest Award, plus the popular Audience Choice Award.

Following the performances each school will receive written feedback about their performances.

Flannofest 2012 is on Friday, June 29 at the Q Theatre with performances at 12pm and 7pm.

Tickets are $16 for both performances. To book or for more information call 4723 7600 or visit http://www.jspac.com.au.
