Lifestart Nepean was a hive of activity this morning when Minister for Disability Reform, Jenny Macklin, and Lindsay MP, David Bradbury, paid a visit to the centre.

They were there to discuss the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

“Everyday, organisations like Lifestart Nepean are working hard to help people with a disability reach their potential,” Ms Macklin said.

“A National Disability Insurance Scheme will support their hard work, and deliver the kind of care and support we expect for people with a disability, their families and carers.”

Mr Bradbury said he understood people wanted more choice and control over the support they received.

“They want care and support based on their needs, not a cruel lottery depending on what disability they have or where they live,” he said.

“That’s why we are working hard to deliver a system that gives people with a disability, their families and their carers the confidence that there will be a helping hand.”

Ms Macklin said there was still plenty to be done to build the scheme, but work was underway.
