Despite more and more people opting to purchase products online electronics giant JB Hi-Fi is opening a brand new store at @ Home Penrith.
While the pressure of the current economic backdrop has some retailers worried, store manager Brad Hall is optimistic about the opening.
“We are very excited about the new store opening in Penrith. It is a totally fresh store with new shop fittings and current products,” he said.
“It is easily accessible from the M4 making it easy for customers from the Blue Mountains and surrounding areas to come in and have a look. Plus there is a lot of parking and a more relaxed shopping atmosphere than at Westfields.”
The store, which is on schedule to open on Thursday, November 17, will be situated within walking distance of other electronic rivals like Harvey Norman.
“The competition is healthy for our business and we know we have great products to offer our customers,” Mr Hall said.
“We will be matching Harvey Norman dollar for dollar in all pricing issues.”
According to JB Hi-Fi’s chief executive Terry Smart the company is on track to open 10 new stores around Australia by Christmas, taking the store portfolio to 162 sites with plans to open a total of 16 new stores this financial year.
The pace of store openings would continue at between 13 and 15 stores per year for at least the next five years.
Mr Hall, who has been managing JB Hi-Fi stores for five years, said he was excited for the opening of the new store.
“I’ve worked in the area for years and I really understand this region and our customers,” he said.
