Woman assaulted in home

A police search is currently underway following the serious assault of a woman in her own home.

 

About 3pm Tuesday, the woman was confronted by a balaclava-clad man inside her home on Warringah Crescent at Glenmore Park.

The man assaulted the woman, aged in her early 20s, before leaving the scene. He was seen on foot in the vicinity of nearby Telara Avenue.

The victim contacted emergency services and she was taken to Nepean Hospital with a number of injuries. Her condition is not life-threatening.

A crime scene has been established at the home by officers from Penrith Local Area Command.

Polair has been called to assist with the search for the man.

The man is described as having a muscular build, 170 to 180 cm tall, wearing dark clothing and white runners.

Anyone who saw the man leaving the home or who witnessed any suspicious activity around Warringah Crescent or Telara Avenue this afternoon should immediately contact Penrith Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
