A woman in her 20s has passed away in Nepean Hospital following a recent diagnosis of COVID-19.

The woman, who had received a single dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, had underlying health conditions.

The woman is among 12 COVID-related deaths reported overnight across New South Wales.

1,284 new locally acquired cases were reported overnight, with 60 coming from the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

Meanwhile, New South Wales will trial a new home quarantine program for returning travellers.

Tourism Minister and Penrith MP Stuart Ayres said the trial will see around 175 people trial seven days quarantine at home, instead of 14 day hotel quarantine.

“Today is an important step on the reopening of New South Wales to the rest of the world,” he said.

“This is a light for every Australian who is still overseas who because of caps hasn’t been able to come home.”
