Two men have been charged following an investigation into an alleged assault in St Clair at the weekend.

About 8.30pm on Sunday, emergency services were called to Banks Drive near Mamre Road, St Clair, after reports three men had been assaulted.

They were treated at the scene, with a 23-year-old taken to Nepean Hospital for treatment of a partially separated ear and eye injury. The other two men were treated for bruising and swelling but did not require hospitalisation.

Officers from Nepean Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, two men – aged 44 and 20 – were arrested at a house in St Clair about 12.30pm yesterday and taken to Penrith Police Station.

The older man was charged with ‘reckless wounding’, ‘common assault’ and ‘affray’. The younger man was charged with ‘assault occasioning actual bodily harm’, ‘common assault’ and ‘affray’.

Police will allege in court the three men were approached by the two men while walking along Banks Drive, before the two men began assaulting the group. The men were not known to each other.

The pair were granted conditional bail to appear before Penrith Local Court on Tuesday, March 3.
