Emergency crews have contained a grass fire at Wallacia that forced the evacuation of a nearby school.
Wallacia Public School students were forced to leave the premises this afternoon while crews worked to contain the blaze.
Rural Fire Brigades from Wallacia, Regentville, Erskine Park, Mulgoa, Luddenham and Silverdale all assisted.
Crews remain on scene to black out any hotspots, the Wallacia Rural Fire Service said on Twitter.
The fire took hold on Mulgoa Road near Jerrys Creek.
In a statement on its Facebook page, Wallacia Public School said all students were safe.
“All our kids are safe, accounted for and collected. Thank you for all your support with this emergency. It was truly wonderful,” the post to the school community said.
“The younger kids especially were quite frightened and very upset, and the way our team demonstrated compassion, integrity and leadership absolutely melted my heart with pride.”
