Police have shot a man dead in the Penrith CBD this evening.
It is understood the man had approached officers on High Street outside Penrith Police Station brandishing a gun.
A police officer was also injured and has been transported to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
The shooting is believed to be related to an earlier incident at St Marys Police Station, where it is understood shots were also fired.
