Firefighters have worked to contain and extinguish a factory fire in Kingswood this evening.

Around 6pm, crews responded to reports of smoke issuing from a factory complex on Copeland Street.

On arrival they located the rear unit in a block of five well alight.

Firefighters got to work gaining access and working to control the fire as it began to spread into the adjoining unit in the block.

Fire appliances from across western Sydney have attended the location to assist in firefighting operations.

Due to unknown chemicals at the scene, fire fighters have established an exclusion zone around the unit block while they continue to ensure the fire is extinguished and the area is declared safe.

Police are in attendance maintaining the exclusion zones and commencing investigations.
