An elderly woman has narrowly escaped serious injury after a four-wheel-drive crashed into a nursing home overnight.

A 53-year-old woman lost control of her Holden Cruze in the car park of the aged care facility on Manning Street, Kingswood, about 9.30pm last night.

The four-wheel-drive hit a light pole and parking sign before jumping a gutter, ploughing through a garden and slamming into a room occupied by a 91-year-old woman.

She suffered a cut to her forehead after being struck by debris and was taken by NSW Ambulance Paramedics to Nepean Hospital for observation.

Police from St Marys Local Area Command attended the scene and conducted inquiries.

The driver was spoken to by investigating officers, while her vehicle was seized for mechanical examination.

No charges have been laid at this stage.

The Fire and Rescue NSW personnel worked overnight to render the building safe.

Inquiries by police are ongoing.
