In one week’s time, over 1000 netballers, coaches and officials will descend on Penrith for the annual Netball NSW State Championships.

Penrith District Netball Association is hosting the 2012 Championships at Jamison Park this year, which the club is very excited about.

“We are very excited to be hosting the State Championships this year because it is a significant year for the Association,” explained Penrith District Netball Association’s PR Convenor, Kellie Tickner.

“We are celebrating our 40th birthday which is a great milestone. It is also the last time that a State Championship will be held in the Sydney metropolitan area.”

From next year onwards, rural NSW clubs will host the Championships. Work has already begun to make sure the 150 registered teams and officials are comfortable during their visit to Jamison Park.

Large marquees are being erected for the athletes’ village.

Penrith will be well represented at this year’s carnival, with five teams entered in the weekend-long competition.
