Record set for Speedway

A  Monster Truck will make an attempt on the wheel stand world record at Tyrepower Sydney Speedway this Saturday night.

The truck, nick-named “Devil’s Taxi”, is aiming to break the long distance mark of 255 feet (measured in the old scale) currently held by legendary American Monster Truck “Big Foot”, which was set in Nevada last year.

“Devil’s Taxi” owner Sam Xureb is quietly confident he can beat the record. The distances achieved last week in a private practice session were not far off the record.

“I think we have a good chance,” Xureb said.

“If the conditions are right on the night, I believe we can break the world record.”

Meanwhile the flame-throwing Jet Car also will make an appearance as part of the Christmas family fun show.

The Jet Car, with its “top gun” afterburners, will go through its paces and car-torching exercise in a spectacular display.

In keeping with the Christmas theme, Santa Claus also will be in attendance trackside to meet and greet patrons.

Gates open at 3pm.
