A man will face court next month charged with persistent sexual abuse of a 15-year-old boy.

Police will allege that the 20-year-old Penrith man made the acquaintance of the boy three years ago through their membership of a local sporting club.

It’s also alleged that the man sexually assaulted the boy on four separate occasions in August and September 2011.

The incidents are alleged to have taken place in the man’s car.

The boy’s parents reported the man to police on September 8 after they became suspicious of his relationship with their son.

Detectives from Penrith Local Area Command launched an investigation and yesterday charged the man with a range of offences.

He'll face court in October.
