Cat killed in shocking animal cruelty case

A cat has been found hanging from play equipment in a Penrith park in a shocking case of animal cruelty.

The ginger cat was discovered dead early this morning at a park on Doonmore Street at the intersection of Derby Street.

It has been taken to a nearby vet, but it is understood the animal was not microchipped.

It is understood police attended the scene this morning after the body of the cat was found.

Locals have already taken to social media to express their disgust.

“What the hell is wrong with people!! That poor cat and its poor family. Absolutely sickening!” one Facebook user posted.

Anyone with information is urged to call police or the RSPCA.
